BEIJING — Nio Inc. started construction on a giant industrial park with China’s eastern city of Hefei, the electric-vehicle maker said on Thursday.
The 16,950-acre site in Anhui province — dubbed NeoPark — will serve as a hub for manufacturing, research and development, core parts and components, and autonomous driving. It will also include housing and an eco-park.
It is expected to have manufacturing capacity of 1 million EVs a year.
In a statement, Nio said it envisions the site eventually employing 10,000 R&D personnel and 40,000 technical workers.
