MumbaiMarch, an NGO working on the missing links of Mumbai, wrote to the BMC Commissioner demanding immediate handover of the reserved plot within the Growels 101 Mall in Kandivali (E), which is pending from over 15 years. The organisation also demanded timely completion of the planned 18.30 metre DP road after taking over the reserved land.

The Free Press Journal had earlier reported that the BMC has failed to take over the DP and RG plot that lies in the vicinity of the Growels 101 Mall. The plot has been reserved to construct a recreational ground and a road connecting the Akurli Rd to the Western Express Highway as proposed under the DP 1991 and 2034. Although BMC has been requesting the mall to hand over the reserved land, the mall has not handed over the said plot.

While the Lokhandwala Residents Association has been fighting for the said road, its founder and Kandivali-based social activist Shishir Vivekanand Shetty has also served a legal notice to the Chief Minister, BMC Commissioner and other civic officials demanding them to act in this case. On Tuesday, MumbaiMarch also wrote to the BMC Chief demanding immediate handover of the DP road and expedite completion of the road to resolve the traffic issue.

MumbaiMarch urged the civic chief to immediately intervene in the matter and take Immediate handover of the said plot and expedite the construction and completion of the 18.3 metre DP road to alleviate ongoing issues. The letter claimed that resolving this issue promptly will improve traffic flow, safety, and overall convenience for the residents and visitors of this area. The organisation had written to the BMC commissioner on January 23 about the same issue.

Avinash Thawani, founder of MumbaiMarch, said, тАЬThe prolonged delay in taking handover & opening of this road for public usage at large has been causing significant inconvenience to residents, commuters, and businesses in the vicinity. Due to the incomplete or improperly planned sections of the DP Road, there are frequent traffic bottlenecks, safety hazards for pedestrians, and difficulty accessing key areas around the mall leading to the WEH. The current state of the road is also affecting commercial activities and creating unnecessary congestion during peak hours.
