Mishra returned the bills of Dunes University (Jodhpur), Vyas Vidya Peeth University (Jodhpur) and Saurabh University, Hindaun City, Karauli for reconsideration, making 35-40 objections.
In 2020, during Sachin Pilot’s revolt, the governor had rejected the government’s request to call a session of the assembly so that it could prove its strength in the House.
The higher education department said the bills were passed by the state assembly following all rules under the Rajasthan Private Universities Act, 2005, while Raj Bhavan said they found discrepancies in what was claimed in the documents and what existed on the ground.
A senior government official posted at the department of higher education said they will examine the objections to prepare a response. “The objections will be put in three categories – doable, non-doable and uncalled. Those warranted responses will be submitted to Raj Bhavan while others will be discussed with the minister for further action,” said an official.
Another official, who was associated with the documentation of these universities, said that all 52 private universities in the state were created following the Rajasthan Private Universities Act, 2005.
“The universities in question followed rules enshrined in the act. From fulfilling the mandatory conditions of having 30 acres of land and 10,000 square feet of construction to facilities, etc,” said official.
