Nervous wait for Sydney with COVID cases expected to spike; Queensland records two local cases; SA opens borders to NT, WA and parts of Queensland; Son stuck in quarantine as mum passes away

South Australia will reopen its border with Western Australia and the Northern Territory, Premier Steven Marshall has announced.

Mr Marshall made the announcement after the state government Transition Committee met to discuss lifting border restrictions for other parts of the country.

He said border closures will remain for New South Wales and the ACT.

For Queensland, border restrictions will remain for the Brisbane, Moreton Bay Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Gold Coast, Logan, Redland, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, and Somerset local government areas.
