National Party is ‘going through an identity crisis’: Canavan

Sky News host Paul Murray says apparently there is some “hot talk” that Barnaby Joyce could become the deputy prime minister as early as Monday.

It comes amid increasing speculation a Nationals leadership challenge will take place in the coming days.

Discussing the issue, Nationals Senator Matt Canavan said he did think the National Party is going through “an identity crisis”.

“Because Michael (McCormack) as leader has not been able to map out a clear vision for the party,” Mr Canavan told Sky News.
