Mumbai Rains: 3 Out of 7 Lakes That Supply Water to City Overflowing, Water Stocks Surge by 8% to 66% in Past 24 Hours

Three out of seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai are currently overflowing following heavy rainfall this month. Mumbai receives water from seven lakes – Tulsi, Vihar, Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Upper Vaitarna and Middle Vaitarna. Of them, Vihar lake started overflowing on Thursday, July 25. Tansa Lake started overflowing on July 24, prompting authorities to open three gates of the Tansa dam. Earlier on July 20, Tulsi Lake had overflowed. Due to heavy rain in the past 24 hours, water levels in the seven lakes surged by 8% from 58% on July 24 to 66% on July 25.
