A day after the Mumbai boat accident, the body of a man was recovered on Thursday, taking the death toll in the incident to 14. The victim has not been identified.

Earlier in the day, the Navy had said that two persons, a man and a seven-year-old child, were missing. Search is on the for child.

Colaba police said a patrolling team is searching for the missing persons. One of them has been identified as Hansaraam Bhati, 43, who had come with his family for a picnic at the Gateway of India.

The Indian Navy said search and rescue (SAR) efforts are on. “Two persons from the ferry are still reported to be missing and SAR operations to this end are in progress by eight Navy craft and a naval helicopter augmented by a Coast Guard vessel,” the Navy mentioned.

Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi offered his condolences and said that a board of inquiry has been ordered into the accident to establish the facts of the case.

Hansaram was among the 115 people who had boarded the private ferry on Wednesday that capsized at Karanja. His brother Jongaram Bhati said, “With time passing, we are scared about what news will come next. His family is petrified with the thought of losing him.”
