Mumbai: Fake Call Centre Cheating Americans on Pretext of Selling Sex Performance Enhancers Like Viagra Busted in Borivali, 16 Detained

Borivali, December 14: A fake call centre that duped US citizens on the pretext of selling them sex performance enhancers like viagra which are banned in their country was busted by Mumbai police on WednesdayMonday. The fraudsters used to sell the banned aphrodisiacs at a 50 per cent discount. The accused used to take orders on a phone call and ask the customers to pay first.

According to a report by the Mid-Day, Five people were arrested including the call centre owner. The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Lalvani (44), Jitendra Mittal (31), Shabbir Khan (23), Shakil Shaikh (23), and Santoshi Sanghavi (44). How the Illegal Operation Came to Light?

The call centre was running from a bungalow at Gorai. The bungalow, earlier used to house a coaching class, was then taken on rent by Lalvani and was being run as a call centre under the pretext of “Lifestyle Fitness Centre” since March. The matter came to light when an informer informed cops about the activities. On Monday night, police in a joint operation with the Anti-Terrorism Cell, Cyber Cell, and Detection, raided the place. During the raid, 16 people including two women were detained, and 11 hard disks and computers were seized from the spot. Gurugram: Fake Call Centre Duping US, Canada Citizens Busted, 17 People Arrested.

The accused have been arrested under sections 276, 417, 419, 420, and 34 of IPC and sections 65, 66(K), 66(D), 72(a), and 75 of the IT Act. “They were produced before the court today and remanded in police custody till December 17,” reported the media outlet quoting Senior Inspector Ninad Sawant as saying.
