Mum accidentally suffocates baby after she dies suddenly while breastfeeding in bed – World News

A mum accidentally suffocated her newborn baby to death after she died suddenly while breastfeeding in bed.

It’s believed Mariana Ojeda, 30, who suffered with severe hypertension, lost consciousness and rolled onto her daughter after her blood pressure spiked.

The woman’s husband, Gabriel, found them dead in bed when he returned to their home in Corrientes, Argentina.

An autopsy is underway to establish the cause of death, but a preliminary investigation has revealed no signs of violence.

Mrs Ojeda had three children and her eldest daughter was visiting her grandmother when she died.

Family members became worried and began phoning her when she did not pick her daughter up from her grandmother’s house and didn’t answer her phone.

Mr Ojeda, who was at work, repeatedly phoned his wife until his three-year-old son eventually answered the phone and said: “Mum is still sleeping”.

According to the news site Telecinco, Gabriel knew something was wrong and immediately went home only to find his wife and two-month-old daughter dead in bed.

The NHS states hypertension “rarely has noticeable symptoms” but it can increase a person’s risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke if it is untreated.

It is believed that the mother, who suffered with severe hypertension, went into shock and died, suffocating the baby girl who she was breastfeeding at the time.

Hypertension which is also known as high blood pressure can be fatal in the long term as it can often lead to a stroke or heart attack.

The investigation continues.
