MP CM Mohan Yadav Inaugurates ₹3K Crore Irrigation & Development Projects In Barwani (WATCH)

Bhopal/Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan for two major irrigation projects in Barwani district—Sendhwa and Niwali lift micro-irrigation projects—on Saturday. The event took place at the Sendhwa Krishi Upaj Mandi Complex.

During the program, CM Mohan Yadav also laid the foundation stone for 13 developmental projects worth ₹2,580.827 crore and dedicated 19 completed projects valued at ₹58.463 crore.

Highlighting the progress in irrigation development, CM Yadav stated, “In 2003, the irrigation area in Madhya Pradesh was approximately 3 lakh hectares. Today, it has expanded to 50 lakh hectares, with a goal of reaching 1 crore hectares by 2028-29.”

According to information, the Sendhwa Lift Micro-Irrigation Project is set to bring significant agricultural benefits to Barwani district. With a total investment of ₹1,402.74 crore, the project aims to provide irrigation facilities to 44,148.50 hectares of land across 98 villages. The project will cover 67 villages in Sendhwa tehsil, 24 villages in Rajpur tehsil, six villages in Niwali tehsil, and one village in Barwani tehsil.

Similarly, the Niwali Lift Micro-Irrigation Project is another major development in the district, with an allocation of ₹1,088.24 crore. This project will provide irrigation facilities to 33,000 hectares of land, benefiting farmers in 87 villages. The project’s reach includes 29 villages in Pati tehsil, 26 villages in Barwani tehsil, and 32 villages in Niwali tehsil.
