NEW DELHI: The director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services has now been formally authorised to hire 400 retired military doctors in the battle against Covid-19, the defence ministry said on Sunday.
“As per the order issued, 400 ex-Army Medical Corps and Short-Service Commission medical officers, who retired or were released between 2017 and 2021, are expected to be recruited on a contract basis for a maximum period of 11 months,” said an official.
They will be paid a fixed monthly lump sum amount, which will be calculated by deducting the basic pension from the salary drawn at the time of their retirement.
