‘Mirzapur’ Season 3 Secret Post-Credit Scene Explained: The Return of an ‘Absent’ Character and What It Means for Season 4 of Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi’s Amazon Prime Show! (SPOILER ALERT)

Mirzapur is known for its secret post-credit scenes. The previous season’s post-credit scene revealed that Shatrughan (Vijay Varma) survived the shooting and not his twin Bharat (also Vijay Varma) and that Shatrughan is now living his brother’s life. Season 3 of Mirzapur, which premiered on Prime Video on 5 July 2024, also has a secret post-credit scene for those patient enough to wait for the end credits to roll. ‘Mirzapur’ Season 3 Review: Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi’s ‘Gangs of Purvanchal’ Returns in Much Improved Form!

The post-credit scene reveals the return of a major character who was absent for the entire third season and who many presumed was dead. However, he turns out to be alive, and his return could bring serious consequences for the surviving characters of Mirzapur, particularly Kaleen Bhaiya.

Before we explain what happened, be warned that this is a SPOILER-FILLED article. Read at your own risk!

The Post-Credit Scene of ‘Mirzapur’ Season 3

The scene begins in a quarry, where a bare-chested labourer is seen walking away from the camera. He is not important, but the giant man he walks up to certainly is, as he is breaking stones. Before we find out who he is, the shirtless labourer tells him, “Khansaab, aapse koi milna chahta hai.” (Mr Khan, someone wants to meet you).

‘Khansaab’ is later seen walking towards the meeting place, as we hear Beena Tripathi’s (Rasika Dugal) voice reciting a couplet:

Taaqat pehchanne ke liye shaayad tootna hota hai

Haisiyat pehchanne ke liye shaayad roothna hota hai

Apnon ko dhundne ke liye shaayad khud ko khona hota hai

Seekh raha hoon padhne ka hunar, shayad kitabon se zyada chehre pe hota hai

(The couplet feels like a modified version of a viral poem, which you can read here).

This translates to:

“To recognise strength, perhaps one must break. To recognise status, perhaps one must sulk. To find loved ones, perhaps one must lose oneself. I am learning the art of reading; perhaps it’s more in faces than in books.”

The man then walks to a girl standing near a jeep, who turns out to be Radiya (Prashansa Sharma). She tells him, “Khansaab, bhabhi aapse baat karna chahta hai.” (Mr Khan, madam wants to talk to you). The camera then reveals the man’s face, and we see that it is Maqbool (Shaji Choudhary).

What Does This Scene Mean for ‘Mirzapur’ Season 4?

For those who have forgotten, Maqbool was the trusted and obedient lieutenant of Kaleen Bhaiya, who became his master’s enemy after Munna killed his mother in an impulsive act in season 2. As revenge, Maqbool was about to kill Bauji (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) and even had him at gunpoint, but Beena, who had been sexually abused by Bauji, took it upon herself to brutally kill her father-in-law. ‘Mirzapur’ Season 3 SPOILERS: 5 Shocking and Brutal Deaths in Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi’s Show That Left Our Senses Numb!

Bauji Death Scene

While Beena was under the impression that Kaleen Bhaiya had been dead for nearly the entirety of season 3, she got the shock of her life when she discovered that her husband was alive in the final episode. From the way he hugged her and her child (who he doesn’t know is not his son, but rather his half-brother), it seems that Kaleen Bhaiya is unaware that she had a hand in the shootout that killed Munna and nearly finished him, too, as well as in murdering his father. Beena, however, recognises that her life is in danger, as evidenced by the shaken expression on her face in her last scene of the season.

By calling back Maqbool, Beena might be strengthening her position in case Kaleen Bhaiya finds out about her secrets. Already, Madhuri Yadav (Isha Talwar) suspects her, though Beena doesn’t know that yet. It is also unclear if Kaleen Bhaiya knows that Maqbool had a hand in killing his father. We presume he thinks that Maqbool only killed Bauji as revenge for his mother’s death. If Maqbool returns, Kaleen Bhaiya has one more enemy to handle, apart from Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal), Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma), and presumably Sharad Shukla’s mother Shakuntala (Meghna Malik), who may want revenge for her son’s death.

Also, did you notice in that scene that Radiya has changed her dressing style and appearance? She has cut her hair short and taken on a more tomboyish look, resembling Golu. This recalls an earlier conversation she had with Beena about wearing Golu’s clothes, where they both assumed Golu was dead. Does this mean Radiya will be the strategist for Beena, the same way Golu was for Guddu? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
