‘Mirzapur’ Season 3 Bonus Episode Review: I might be one of the few reviewers who found the third season of Mirzapur not too bad. In fact, I consider it an improvement over the second season. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of the series as a whole, but Munna Bhaiyya (Divyenndu Sharma) is a tour de force of a character, and Mirzapur Season 3 definitely felt his absence after his character was killed at the end of Season 2. Another thing I can’t ignore about Season 3 is that it was certainly bloated. Now we have a bonus episode of Mirzapur Season 3, presented by Munna, who’s back from the dead to bring us neglected subplots and deleted scenes. So, if you’re interested in learning more about Radhiya’s (Prashansa Sharma) drinking problem or how Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) managed to escape from Shatrughan’s (Vijay Varma) clutches by stealing a scooter and fleeing to her godown, then this is for you.

Or, if you want to see more of a conversation about Sharad (Anjum Sharma) wanting to go to college to get a certificate with ‘Bharat’, it’s clear why these scenes didn’t make the final cut. In between, Munna gives his vishesh tipniyan on these characters and their eventual fates. He calls the Pandit family more twisted than his own and expresses satisfaction with Sharad’s eventual fate after trying to have an affair with his widowed wife, Madhuri (Isha Talwar).

I wish there had been more scenes with Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi). Guddu appears in the first deleted scene, where he and his mother (Sheeba Chaddha) disagree on how to get his father out of prison. I feel that Mirzapur as a series didn’t do justice to an incredible actress like Ms Chaddha, so any good dramatic moment featuring her is a win for me. While most of the deleted scenes were just okay, one stood out for me—when Munna reminds us that even though he’s no longer alive, his alma mater, Gajjumal College, still carries his legacy. The scene is an extension of the sequence where Golu goes to the college and hires a few recruits for her ‘company’. One of them turns out to be a Munna loyalist who even carries a gun gifted by him, though he somewhat underestimates Golu’s clout and power. ‘Mirzapur’ Season 3 Bonus Episode Review – Final Thoughts

While the bonus episode offers some intriguing insights and fills in a few gaps, it also highlights the uneven pacing and the ‘bloat’ that impacted the third season of Mirzapur. The deleted scenes are a mixed bag – a couple are worth the watch, while others reaffirm why they were cut in the first place. But for fans of Munna Bhaiyya, his posthumous return as the episode’s host is a bittersweet reminder of the energy and unpredictability he brought to the series and how his absence has left a huge void that cannot be filled.
