A 12-year-old boy has suffered serious head injuries after falling from a car allegedly being driven by a 16-year-old in Perth’s north.
As the car approached Northwood Drive, a 12-year-old boy, seen riding on top of the bonnet, was thrown from the vehicle.
Confronting CCTV footage from a nearby business shows the boy hanging onto the front of the car as the driver turns a corner.
Moments later, the car appears to speed up, before the driver allegedly slams on the brakes, sending the 12-year-old flying out onto the asphalt road.
Shocked witnesses rushed over to check on the younger boy who is seen in the footage lying motionless on the road.
One witness said the boy was bleeding heavily from the back of his head as the 16-year-old driver allegedly tried to get him to stand up.
“It was horrific, just really, really bad,” the man told 9News.
“I think to them it was probably just a joke, but I don’t think they knew what the outcome was going to be.
“The amount of blood – I thought the guy was finished.”
Witnesses told 9News the 16-year-old allegedly fled the scene before emergency crews arrived, but returned later to speak with police.
The boy suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital where his condition has since stabilised.
No charges have been laid and the police investigation is ongoing, with officers looking at whether the teen behind the wheel had any form of licence.
