A 12-year-old boy was found dead inside an open graveyard in Bihar’s Banka district on Friday after he went missing on Thursday, police said.
While the cause of the death is unknown, police suspect a murder case. Police said that the boy might have been strangled but the cause of death will only be ascertained after the postmortem of the body.
Police said that the boy’s father lodged a missing complaint late on Thursday evening and based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against unknown people.

Dhoraiya station house officer (SHO) Ashok Kumar said that they have launched an investigation into the matter.
According to the complainant, the boy left the house on Thursday to attend an event on the occasion of Ram Navami at Sagunia village. However, as he did not return until late, his family began searching for him and found him dead in a graveyard. On being alerted, a police team rushed to the spot and conducted inquiries.
“We did not notice any external injury. Police are yet to identify the people behind the incident but we are working to identify them soon,” said the SHO, adding that an additional force has been deployed in the area in order to prevent any clashes.
