Juanita McNamara claims she was discriminated against when three security guards refused her entry to the Irish pub Finn McCools in Fortitude Valley on Saturday night.
McNamara has a cultural tattoo on her chin called a moko kauae, which represents her family.
“They said no facial tattoos because it is the rules of the venue,” she said.
“It was actually embarrassing. I was very disappointed, I was shocked but also I felt quite a feeling of injustice.”
A spokesperson for Finn McCools Fortitude Valley said the venue has been in touch with McNamara to offer an apology.
The pub told 9News it is now updating its venue entry policy to create a safe and welcoming space for all patrons.
It also said it will be upskilling and training staff on the new policy and procedures.
