A man is claiming he has been left with scars for life after his parents set him on fire for marrying his love, without their blessing,

The alleged incident is said to have taken place in an unspecified location in Rwanda.

The victim, named as Mugabarigira Jean Claude, has told Afrimax TV of how he is now struggling to cope with the painful injuries he has been left with.

He said the attack left him with serious injuries on his upper body, including his chest, back and his waist.

The conflict came about after his parents tried to set him up with a woman he had never met, but he refused.

Once he was unconscious, he was allegedly covered in petrol and set on fire.

Thankfully, some neighbours intervened and rescued him. Mugabarigira was then rushed to hospital, where he spent the next 22 days in a coma.
