Vaindam Prashanth had landed in Pakistan while on his way to Switzerland, in 2017. According to reports, Prashanth, an engineer, had set out on a solo journey to Switzerland to be with a woman he loved, but he did not have a visa.
When asked about his return to his country, Prashanth said: “I am very happy to have come back after four years.”
Prashanth revealed that the Pakistani Army suspected that he was a spy, but there was no concrete evidence that could prove the same.
Elated to receive the news of repatriation of his son, Vaindam Babu Rao, told TOI from Visakhapatnam: “We are very happy and are waiting for him to reach home.”
He, however, did not want to comment on how his son had reached Pakistan. “We had seen whatever was published in Pakistan’s newspapers.” he said. However, he admitted that his son had an affair with a woman.
When asked, Prashanth also admitted that he had an affair with her, but did not want to comment on it further.
Talking about Prashanth, a spiritual guru, Kiran, who runs “Sahaayata” an Odisha-based non-profit organisation, said he was a resident of Hyderabad’s Kukatpally and had gone missing on April 11, 2017 .
Kiran said that his father had lodged a missing complaint at Madhapur police station. The father, he said, had come to know from media reports that Prashanth had illegally entered Pakistan and was apprehended. Kiran added that the father had also taken up the issue of Prashanth’s repatriation with the external affairs minister.
Babu Rao, whose elder son is also a software engineer, said they would want Prashanth to settle, find a job and get married.
