Man on the run after shots allegedly fired during Sydney jewelry store robbery

One man has been charged and another is still on the run after an alleged armed robbery at jewelry store in Sydney’s south west.

A Busby man allegedly entered Diamond Hill Jewellers at Carnes Hill Marketplace with a shotgun and hammer at 4.45pm yesterday afternoon.

He allegedly fired two rounds and smashed glass cabinets, before stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from the store.

The 52-year-old shop keeper claimed he was threated by the man but managed to escape into a back room and sound an alarm.

The man is accused of escaping on the back of a motorbike, where he allegedly jumped off and aimed a gun at officers, who tackled him to the ground before arresting him.

Liverpool City Police have been contacted by more than 20 witnesses. (Nine)

Police have charged the man and he is expected to appear in Liverpool Local Court today.

Officers are still searching for a second man who was riding a motorbike which the first man jumped onto the back of.

He has been described as in his mid twenties, wearing a grey hoodie and was last seen in Busby.
