A man has been charged over the alleged murder of a woman near Nowra yesterday.
A 51-year-old woman was found dead in her home about 11.30am Friday.
A family member had called police after they were unable to contact the woman.
Officers from the South Coast Police District, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived a short time later, and the 51-year old was pronounced deceased.
Detective Inspector Scott Nelson, South Coast PD Crime Manager, said she had serious injuries.
“The scene was quite confronting,” he said.
A 37-year-old man was arrested nearby a short time later. He was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with murder.
The man was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Bail Court today.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Officers are asking anyone who travelled on the Comerong Island Road in the region in the past 24 hours to hand over any dashcam footage they have to Nowra Police.
Detectives are still working to determine exactly how the woman died, who was home at the time.
Two houses across the road from each other have been cordoned off as crime scenes.
