Man allegedly dangled partner off an eighth-story balcony, held her against her will in Burwood

A man has been charged with allegedly holding a woman against her will, dangling her off a balcony and filming her without her consent at a home in Sydney’s inner west.

On Monday NSW Police received reports of a domestic-violence-related incident between a couple at a unit in Burwood.

Police will allege the woman, aged 35, was assaulted and at one stage the man, aged 36, lifted her over the side of the balcony of the eighth-floor apartment.

Neighbours on the floor below allegedly helped her to safety.

Today, tactical police arrested the man, and forensics and detectives collected evidence including electronic devices that have been sent for further testing.

The man, from Taiwan, is facing six serious charges:

  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV)
  • Stalk/intimidate intend fear etc harm (personal)
  • Cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent
  • Take person intend serious indictable offence
  • Install device, adapt building to observe or film other
  • Threaten or distribute intimate image without consent.

He was refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court tomorrow.
