NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday appointed her nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the party’s national general secretary.
Mamata Banerjee chaired an organisational meeting of the party in Kolkata on Saturday, that was also attended by poll strategist Prashant Kishor.
Speaking to the media, TMC leader Partha Chatterjee said that the party’s working committee has decided on a one-person-one-post formula, and therefore the reshuffles within.
Other important appointments made during Saturday’s meeting include journalist-turned-politician Kunal Ghosh being made TMC state general secretary.
Actor-turned-politician Sayoni Ghosh has been made the party’s youth wing president – a post earlier held by Abhishek.
Partha Chatterjee said that no discussion was held on turncoats, who had quit the TMC ahead of the assembly polls, and were now willing to return to the party fold.
