Maharashtra May Announce 5-Level Unlock Plan, Local Trains to Remain Suspended in Mumbai; Final Decision Yet to Be Taken

Mumbai, June 3: The Maharashtra government may announce a 5-level unlock plan in the state depending on the case positivity rate, hospital occupancy across the districts. Soon after reports emerged stating Maharashtra is set to begin a phase-wise unlock process from Friday, the┬аDGIPR Maharashtra took to Twitter and said that the decision in this regard is yet to be taken, and restrictions will continue in the state. In a series of tweets, the┬аDGIPR stated that the new rules are still under consideration and any decision in this regard will be notified soon.

Earlier, Vijay Wadettiwar, the┬аstate’s┬аRelief and Rehabilitation Minister had announced a 5-level unlock strategy after the state reported a decline in cases of coronavirus (COVID-19). As per the unlock strategy, districts┬аwith 5 percent positivity rate and oxygen bed occupancy less than 25 percent will be open in level 1. “We have prepared a 5-level unlock plan for the state on the basis of positivity rate and status of occupancy of oxygen beds in the districts. Districts with the lowest positivity rate will have no restrictions,” Wadettiwar said. Reports stated that Thane and 17 other districts fall in the level 1 category and the lockdown will be lifted there completely. Meanwhile, Mumbai, however, remains in the level 2 category. In Maharashtra,┬а57,76,184 people have tested positive for COVID-19 so far. Of them, 96,751 succumbed to the infection, while 54,60,589 patients recovered.┬аThe state now has 2,16,016 active cases.
