Lucky Taylor Swift fan nabs 2 tickets in Vancouver for $16.50 each — but there’s a catch

A few lucky Taylor Swift fans in Vancouver managed to grab seats for the hottest ticket in town on Monday — the pop star’s last three shows of her Eras Tour—  for $16.50 each.

Given that tickets to the record-breaking tour are being resold for tens of thousands of dollars, one fan who scooped two cheap tickets — one for herself and one for her grandmother —  just a week before the concerts called it a “crazy adrenaline rush.”

The catch? They’re all behind the stage with next to no view.

But for Eme Naumann, one of those lucky Swifties, just being in B.C. Place to hear one of the last concerts of Swift’s Eras Tour is enough.

“We’re sitting not quite behind the stage, but almost, but we are in the building and overjoyed to just be able to hear it if nothing else,” Naumann told CBC News.

If she’s really lucky, Naumann says she may be able to catch Swift on the large screen, but she’s not banking on it.

Naumann says that she hopes fans in her section are among the most dedicated Swifties, given they “aren’t going for the Instagram photo.”

“Even if you can’t see anything, you’re still going to hear, you’re still going to be able to dance, trade bracelets, and the atmosphere at her concerts is just such a positive and welcoming space,” she said.

Naumann says an “adrenaline rush” came with realizing she was able to buy tickets on Monday, given how so many fans have complained of scalpers snapping up tickets before actual fans do.

Online listings show that tickets in Naumann’s section are now being sold for upwards of $1,800.

“It’s a bit of survivor’s guilt in a way of, like, I know there’s people who really want to be there and who are going to end up paying those extreme prices,” the Swiftie said.

Naumann is recommending that fellow Taylor Swift fans keep an eye out on TikTok, Discord and X accounts, which track when tickets to the highly-anticipated concerts are released.

The Vancouver dates that close out Swift’s two-year world tour come after six sold-out concerts at Toronto’s Roger’s Centre, which spanned two weeks and concluded Saturday.

More than 150,000 Swifties are expected to attend B.C. Place over the three Taylor Swift shows from Dec. 6 to 8. The Eras Tour has touched down on five continents and will have clocked nearly 150 performances by the time it’s over.
