Locals told to stay indoors as massive CASO continues in Poonch | India News

JAMMU: The Army on Sunday launched a massive combing and search operation (CASO) in a forward border area in Poonch district of J&K, asking locals to stay indoors as a safety measure.
According to official sources, alert Army troops, while patrolling in the general forest of Keri area of Mendhar sector around 3.30am, observed some suspicious movements and opened fire. “No one was injured in the firing by the soldiers as it was speculative firing on suspicious movement,” an official said.
Sources said that though there was no retaliation from the suspected person/s, the Army launched a massive search operation in the area and adjoining forests.
“All roads leading to the Keri-Galhuta village of Mendhar and its adjoining areas were closed for usual traffic in view of the ongoing search operation, and the residents were asked to stay indoors as a precautionary measure,” a source said, adding that the searches were completed in the populated area but no one was arrested.
