NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has confirmed 98 new Covid-19 cases were detected in the past 24 hours.
She said New South Wales recorded 98 cases of community transmission, 20 of those were infectious in the community.
Some 61 are linked to a known case or cluster – 43 are household contacts and 18 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 37 cases is under investigation.
“Please remember, that 20 number is the number we are really keen to nudge,” she said.
“We need to get ahead of that number in order to reduce the cases in the community and the closer we get that number to zero, the sooner we can end the lockdown.”
