Li Auto expects lower Q3 sales due to chip crunch

Li Auto, citing supply-chain woes, revised down its target for third-quarter deliveries to around 24,500 vehicles from a previous estimate of between 25,000 and 26,000.

The automaker’s millimeter-wave radar supplier has seen its chip supply “severely hampered” by the coronavirus outbreak in Malaysia, the electric vehicle startup said this week without identifying the supplier.

Li Auto is the second major Chinese EV startup that has lowered expectations for vehicle deliveries in the third quarter amid the persistent chip shortage.

Earlier this month, Nio adjusted sales guidance for the period to a range of 22,500 to 23,500 vehicles, down from the previous outlook of 23,000 to 25,000 vehicles given “the continued uncertainty and volatility of semiconductor supply.”
