LG inaugurates Lord Venkateswara temple in Jammu; says its will boost religious tourism and development | India News
JAMMU: It was a historic moment in the “Sanatan journey” of Jammu and Kashmir and the country, lieutenant-governor Manoj Sinha said, as he dedicated Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Jammu, built by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), to the people on Thursday.
Sinha, along with Union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Dr Jitendra Singh and TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy, attended the Maha Samprokshanam of Lord Venkateswara (Vishnu) temple, nestled amidst the picturesque Shivalik forests in Majeen village on the city’s outskirts.
After paying obeisance to Lord Balaji, the LG said the temple, among the biggest in J&K, would give a boost to spiritual tourism and a major fillip to the economic development and employment opportunities in the Union Territory.
“The holy shrines of Sri Venkateswara, Baba Amarnath, Mata Vaishno Devi, Mata Sharda, Shiv Khori, Adi Shankaracharya Temple, Hazratbal and other prominent religious places and Sufi shrines will not only boost tourism, but also develop Jammu Kashmir as the cultural-spiritual capital of the country,” he said.
Lauding Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Shri Kailash Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan and other organisations for their immense contribution in promoting Vedic culture and traditions, Sinha added TTD to the list. “I am confident Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will develop a Ved Pathshala and Health Centre on priority,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the TTD board chairman and other members for building Lord Venkateswara’s temple “in the land of spirituality and wisdom”.
In his address, Union culture and tourism minister G Kishan Reddy congratulated the government and the people of J&K and all the devotees of Sri Venkateswara. “The temple at Jammu will carry the message in the world that Kashmir to Kanyakumari, India is one. This will be a centre of spirituality and Sanatan traditions,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, junior minister Dr Jitendra Singh said “this Vikas Tirth is a celebration of India’s unity in diversity”.
