Noted folk singer Sharda Sinha passed away at the age of 72 on November 5, 2024. She had been battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, since 2018. Recently, she was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and was on ventilator support. Sharda Sinha’s health had been deteriorating for some time now, especially after the death of her husband, politician┬аBrij Kishore Sinha in September this year, which left her in shock. Before her demise, Prime Minister┬аNarendra Modi had reached out to her family to inquire about her health and offered all necessary assistance for her ongoing treatment. Hits like “Kahe Toh Se Sajna” from┬аBollywood actor Salman Khan’s debut movie┬аMaine Pyar Kiya (1989), and “Pehle Pahil Hum Kayeni” solidified her legacy.

Sharda Sinha had also sung for other Bollywood films like┬аHum Aapke Hain Koun┬а(1994)┬аand Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). In 2018, Sharda Sinha was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, for her immense contribution to Indian music and culture.
