Labor тАЬin principleтАЭ agree with the free trade agreement between the United Kingdom and Australia but the тАЬdevil is in the detailsтАЭ, according to Shadow Early Childhood Education Minister Amanda Rishworth.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the deal on Tuesday, the first new trade deal the UK has made since leaving the European Union.
тАЬWe in principle agree with this free trade deal with the UK,тАЭ she said.
тАЬWe will of course have to go through the details when it comes to this agreement and of course make sure itтАЩs in the national interest of Australian workers, Australian businesses and the community.
тАЬIn principle, we support these sorts of agreements being struck but you know the devil is always in the details and we will have to look at that very carefully.
тАЬIt certainly seems to on the face of it have some important steps to strengthening our ties with Britain and so I think thatтАЩs a good thing.
тАЬWeтАЩd like to see the government do a lot more of these agreementsтАЭ.
