Born on August 23, 1968, KK initially pursued a marketing career after studying at Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. However, his passion for music led him to submit a demo tape in 1994, which launched his career with commercial jingles. He made his playback singing debut in Hindi Cinema in 1999 with the hit “Tadap Tadap” from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and released his first album, ‘Pal’, the same year. Over his remarkable three-decade career, KK recorded over 500 songs in Hindi and more than 200 in various Indian languages, earning recognition as one of India’s greatest playback singers. On May 31, 2022, after performing at a college festival in Kolkata, he felt unwell while returning to his hotel and suffered a cardiac arrest, ultimately leading to his untimely passing at the age of 53.
