Farmers’ Protest In Delhi: Know All About Demands Of Protestors; Special Traffic & Security Arrangements Around NCR Today |

New Delhi: Farmers are set to march towards the Parliament complex on Monday, raising five critical demands, leading to heightened security measures and traffic diversions across the Delhi-NCR region. This protest, organised by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), aims to draw attention to issues concerning compensation, land acquisition and the welfare of landless farmers.

Key Details Of The Protest

BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa announced that the march would begin at 12 pm from the Mahamaya flyover, with participants travelling both on foot and by tractor towards Delhi. Farmers from 20 districts, including Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh and Agra, are expected to participate.

Five Core Demands:

1. Increased Compensation: Farmers are demanding 64.7% more compensation under the old land acquisition law and four times the market rate for land acquired after January 1, 2014.

2. Plot Allocation: They seek the allocation of 10% of plots under the old acquisition law and 20% for land acquired after the specified date.

3. Employment and Rehabilitation: A crucial demand is employment and rehabilitation benefits for children of landless farmers.

4. Implementation of High Power Committee Orders: Farmers want government orders based on recommendations from the High Power Committee.

5. Proper Settlement of Populated Areas: They are pressing for the proper settlement of populated regions affected by land acquisition.

Security & Traffic Arrangements:

In anticipation of the march, extensive security arrangements have been made. Barriers have been placed at various entry points, including the Noida-Delhi borders, Chilla and DND flyovers. According to reports quoting Police Commissioner Shivhari Meena, additional police forces will be stationed at strategic locations, including checkpoints along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

Route Diversions:

Authorities have issued traffic advisories to minimise disruptions:

– Chilla Border to Greater Noida: Vehicles will be redirected via Sector 14A flyover.

– DND Border to Delhi: Traffic will be diverted from the elevated road to the Filmcity flyover in Sector 18.

– Kalindi Border: Vehicles will be rerouted through Mahamaya flyover via Sector 37.

– Greater Noida to Delhi: Travellers will need to use the Hajipur underpass or Kalindi Kunj.

Additionally, goods vehicles will face restrictions on routes connecting Yamuna Expressway to Delhi and traffic from Sirsa to Surajpur via Pari Chowk will also be affected.

Farmers have been protesting at various locations, including the Greater Noida Authority and Yamuna Authority, since November 27. Other farmer organisations, such as the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Samyukt Kisan Morcha, have announced similar marches starting December 6, demanding a guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP).

This march is expected to intensify the ongoing farmer movement, as they continue to push for their rights and fair compensation. The government’s response to these demands will likely shape the next phase of the protests.
