In a viral video, a student from a university in coastal Karnataka region was seen arguing with his professor for allegedly calling him a ‘terrorist’. The professor later apologized the student

In the video, the student in the classroom asked, “How can you pass such statements?”, followed by an argument. The professor, however, clarified that it was said in a funny manner. Taking the argument further, the student said, “26/11 is not funny, being Muslim and facing such things in this country is not funny.”

The professor then apologized the student and told him that he is equal to his son. The student replied, “Will you treat your son like this? Will you label him as a terrorist, infront of everyone in the class? Sorry alone will not help, sir. It doesn’t change how you portray yourself here”

The professor later had a conversation with the student and issued a personal apology too, said sources. The matter was also said to be resolved between the student and the professor.

The video took the internet by storm with various people reacting to the alleged attack on a community. Professor Ashok Swain who is also a chairperson of UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) shared the video and wrote, “A Professor in a class room in India calling a Muslim student ‘terrorist’ – This is what it has been to be a minority in India!”
