Kangaroo joey rescued from croc-infested floodwaters

A kangaroo joey has been saved from crocodiles after being spotted trying to stay afloat in floodwaters.

Police in the isolated Queensland town of Burketown, 10 hours’ drive west of Cairns, spotted the baby struggling in the flood-hit area.

Meanwhile, two “very large crocs” were lurking nearby, Queensland Police wrote on Twitter.

The kind-hearted cops steered their boat so they could fish the joey out of the water.

After a short journey aboard, the joey was safely delivered back to dry land.

It hopped away, pausing to look back at its rescuers.
