John McAfee has been found dead in a prison cell in Spain this afternoon, it has been reported.
According to El Mundo newspaper, the UK-born computer pioneer took his own life in a Barcelona prison after the Spanish high court allowed his extradition to the United States.
Prison surveillance operatives and medical services intervened to carry out resuscitation maneuvers. but could not save his life, the Department of Justice said.
The 75-year-old was arrested on October 3, 2020 at El Prat airport as he was about to take a plane to Turkey.
