BJP legislator Dhullu Mahto on Monday surrendered before Dhanbad court in Jharkhand which sent the Baghmara MLA to jail in connection with a 2013 case.
The three-term legislator from Baghmara surrendered in connection with a 2013 case.
The trial court had on October 9, 2019, convicted Mahto including four others and sentenced them with 18-month imprisonment in connection with the case.
тАЬI have repeatedly said that I have been framed in 4-5 cases and have also demanded CBI probe in all the cases. I am surrendering today despite being unwell due to an ailment for past 10 years. I have full faith in judiciary and will get justice,тАЭ Mahto said before being sent to jail.

On May 12, 2013, Mahto was accused of getting one of his aides, Rajesh Gupta, freed forcibly from police custody from Barora police station, besides attacking policemen.
The sub divisional court had convicted Mahto and others in the case in 2019, which was challenged in higher court.
The special MP/MLA court had in August 22, 2022 upheld the conviction of the trial court. Mahto had challenged the court order in Jharkhand high court.
The high court on December 12, 2022 refused to provide relief and had directed the BJP leader to surrender before Dhanbad court before January 12, 2023 and file a revision petition later.
