Kharora: In a shocking incident at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp in Mudipar, near Raipur, Constable Saroj Kumar, a resident of Bihar, shot and killed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Devendra Singh Dahiya, a resident of Haryana. The incident occurred late Sunday night, reportedly following a dispute between the two.
While the exact cause of the altercation remains under investigation, initial reports suggest that a disagreement over leave or uniform discipline may have escalated into violence. Some sources indicate that ASI Dahiya reprimanded Constable Saroj over his uniform turnout, which may have provoked the shooting.
The accused constable fired multiple rounds using his service revolver. As the shots rang out, fellow soldiers took cover to save themselves. After a struggle, they managed to overpower Saroj Kumar, restraining him with a rope before handing him over to the police upon their arrival.
ASI Dahiya was rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Raipur Rural ASP has confirmed the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the precise motive behind the attack.
