Vladimir Putin touched down in Switzerland for crunch talks with Joe Biden in his luxury jet – dubbed the ‘Flying Kremlin’.

The Russian president met his US counterpart for a summit in Geneva to discuss relations between the two powers.

The meeting is the first between the pair since Biden was elected to the role of commander-in-chief.

The men are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including cyber attacks and the situation in Ukraine.

Both jetted in on their own presidential planes, with Biden arriving on the famous Air Force One.

But less is know about Putin’s £390m aircraft – which even has its own gold-plated toilet.

The official Ilyushin plane was made by Voronezh Aircraft Production Association and hit top speeds of up to 560mph.

It has a neo-classical style, with the conference room table trimmed with gold, as well as many luxury features.

These include a gym, fully-stocked bar and bedrooms, reports The Sun, with state insignia visible all over the decor.

But, as is necessary for a plane carrying a world leader, it also houses a command centre which can be used to mobilise troops.

This could be used for a combat situation when Putin is in the air.

The Russian leader touched down in the Swiss city at around 12:30pm local time on Wednesday.

Both men had said in the run-up to the summit that they hoped their talks can lead to more stable and predictable relation – even though they remain at odds over everything.

“We’re not expecting a big set of deliverables out of this meeting,” a senior U.S. official told reporters, saying the two are expected to talk for four or five hours.

“I’m not sure that any agreements will be reached,” said Putin’s foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov.

Relations have deteriorated for years, notably with Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine, its 2015 intervention in Syria and U.S. charges – denied by Moscow – of its meddling in the 2016 election that brought Donald Trump to the White House.

They sank further in March when Biden said he thought Putin was a “killer”, prompting Russia to recall its ambassador to Washington for consultations.

The United States recalled its ambassador in April.

The first round of talks – which lasted for around two hours – ended at roughly 3:35pm, local time.
