Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Three youths, including a woman, died by suicide in separate incidents in the city on Saturday due to failed love affairs, as their lovers refused to marry them. In the first case, a 23-year-old woman ended her life by consuming some poisonous substance while on her way home under Tejaji Nagar police station limits on Saturday.
Before taking the drastic step, she sent a video message to her family, accusing her boyfriend of refusing to marry her after being in a relationship for one and a half years. Her family members said that she worked in a shop near Gita Bhawan. While returning home, she consumed poison and recorded a video, alleging that her boyfriend had promised to marry her but later reneged on his promise, citing caste differences and his family’s opposition to the marriage.
Second case
A 24-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself in his house under Tukoganj police station limits on Saturday. His family members alleged that he took the drastic step after his girlfriend ended their five-year-old relationship and posted a picture on social media with another man, causing him deep emotional distress.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Pintu Jinwal, a resident of Pancham Ki Phel. His family members said that Pintu was a photographer. He was in a relationship with a girl for the past five years and they were about to marry. Recently, she broke up with him and started dating someone else. On Pintu’s birthday on Wednesday, she posted a social media story with the new person, which severely affected Pintu. He told his friends that he might take an extreme step, but they consoled him at the time. However, on Saturday, Pintu ended his life.
Third case
A 30-year-old man consumed a poisonous substance near Bengali Square under Tilak Nagar police station limits on Saturday. His family said that he took the extreme step after his girlfriend refused to marry him. According to police, the deceased was identified as Vishal Vishwakarma, a resident of a colony near Bengali Square. His family said that Vishal was employed in the Indore Municipal Corporation on a contract basis. After consuming poison, he called his sister-in-law and informed her about his action. His family rushed him to the hospital, but he died during treatment.
