NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said amid the unstable global economic situation, India’s budget will attempt to meet the hopes and aspirations of the common citizens.
While addressing the media ahead of the Budget session of the Parliament, PM Modi said the thought of ‘India first, citizen first’ will take this Budget session forward.
The motto of the BJP-led NDA government has been “country first, citizen first”, the same philosophy will be central to the union budget to be presented by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
PM Modi said that today is a historic occasion as president Droupadi Murmu will address the first joint sitting of the parliament.
“The occasion is also a matter of pride for women and the tribal community of the country,” PM said.
“Our finance minister is a woman too. She will present one more budget before the country tomorrow. In today’s global circumstances, not only India but the entire world is looking at India’s budget,” PM added.
“I know there will be “takarar” (disruptions) but “taqreer” (debate) should also happen and I am sure that the opposition will utilise the occasion,” PM added.
