Indian actor, 35, who died of Covid blasts medics in tragic last video from hospital – World News

Indian actor Rahul Vohra slammed medics for allegedly failing to take care of Covid-19 patients in a heart breaking clip filmed just before he died of the disease.

Mr Vohra’s wife shared the video on Instagram as part of a tribute paid to her beloved husband, who died in a New Delhi hospital on Sunday at the age of 35.

Mr Vohra was a comedy star in India, with his short videos garnering tens of millions of views on Facebook and YouTube.

According to a translation by CNN, the actor says in the video: “This (oxygen) is extremely valuable right now,” he said in the footage. “Without it patients get giddy and suffer.”

“You try and call out for the attendant, but they don’t come,” he said. “They come in an hour’s time or more, and you have to manage in their absence somehow.”

India is currently going through a horrendous second wave of coronavirus which has seen daily new cases hit 300,000 in May, while on May 7 the number reached a global record of 414,188 new cases.

The death toll in the country has now risen to more than 246,000.

People infected with coronavirus are dying in the streets, bodies are piling up at crematoriums and hospitals are running out of oxygen.

Wife Jyoti Tiwari wrote alongside her Instagram post: “My Rahul has left us, everyone knows that but, no one knows how he left us… I hope my husband will get justice.”

It comes amid harrowing headlines of dozens of bodies washing up on the shores of the Ganga river in northern India.

According to local media, the bodies, which were found near the border between the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, may have been of people who died with Covid-19.

The discovery was made as the vast numbers of deaths has pushed funeral services to breaking point, with families struggling to find funeral pyres to dispose of their loved ones.

“It appears the poor are forced to discard the bodies amid this pandemic,” said one of the residents, who lost three family members to Covid-19.

India has been battered by the coronavirus since a mutant strain emerged in the country.

During a second wave described as a “tsunami”, infected people have been wandering the streets looking for hospitals with open beds, morgues have run out of stretchers and trees from parks have been used to burn bodies.

There has been a frantic hunt for oxygen, which is being sold on the black market, to keep seriously ill relatives alive.
