India defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the first One-Day International (ODI) at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Set a target of 263, India, guided by Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 86, reached the target in 36.4 overs. Earlier, Indian bowlers, especially spinners did a fine job to restrict Sri Lanka to 262/9 in 50 overs. Chamika Karunaratne was the top-scorer for the hosts with 43 runs. For India, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal scaled two wickets each while Pandya brothers chipped in with a wicket each. The second ODI takes place at the same venue on July 20.
