IAF to induct first made-in-India light combat helicopters: 5 points | India News

The LCHs have 45% indigenous content by value, which will progressively increase to more than 55% for the next version, an official said.
The future series-production version will consist of further modern and indigenous systems, they said.
The manufacturing of LCH by HAL will give a further push to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and boost the indigenisation of defence production and the defence industry in the country. LCH will reduce India’s import dependence for combat helicopters.
Light Combat Helicopters are already on the import embargo list. With its versatile features built-in for combat missions, LCH has the export capability.
Though India remains the world’s biggest arms importer, the share of defence purchases has come down by almost 21% in 2017-21 compared to 2012-16, according to a report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
