Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority CEO David de Carvalho has said the results from 2022 are “an important resource for parents to make informed decisions about their children’s schooling”.
“They also provide teachers with important insights into school performance, supporting and driving improvements across the nation,” he sad.
Analysis from The Age has revealed 16 of Victoria’s top 20 performing schools are government schools.
Some of the top performing Victorian schools include Dandenong North Primary School, a government school in south-east Melbourne, Beverley Hills Primary School, a government school in north-east Melbourne, and Kings Park Primary School, a government school in the city’s north-west.

In NSW, Sydney Morning Herald analysis shows the top achievers range from high-fee private schools such as Tara Anglican School for Girls and Abbotsleigh to disadvantaged government schools, such as Fairfield Heights Public and Canley Vale High.
NAPLAN, which stands for the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy, is a series of tests focused on basic skills administered to Australian students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
