Yo Yo Honey Singh recently opened up about his struggles with mental health, his comeback, his marriage to his childhood sweetheart Shalini Talwar, and more in his newly released documentary, Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous. During which, Honey’s sister, Sneha Singh opened up about his brother’s mental health and recalled a heartbreaking moment when he begged her to save him while on a tour in the United States.
Sneha said, “It was 3 in the night in India, while it was morning in the US and he was supposed to go for his sound check. He messaged me, ‘I am not feeling okay,’ and this was the first time he conveyed it. I was in my room when he messaged, ‘Something is not right with me, see what I am doing.’ He asked, ‘Can you come on Skype?’ And then he said, ‘Mujhe please bacha lo, gudiya mujhe please bacha le.’ And then he disconnected.”
Further, she revealed that Honey’s ex-wife, Shalini, who was also his manager earlier, was pressuring him to perform despite his mental condition. “I tried reaching out to Shalini, who said, ‘He has to do this show. You convince him to do this show.’ I said I can’t. He told me he wasn’t feeling okay, that something bad was happening. ‘Naa unki body allow kar rahi hai, naa unka mind.’ For three hours, there was no contact with them. Three hours later, I’m told he’s in the hospital with stitches in his head.”
When asked about his divorce from Shalini that they have signed an MoU, that prevents them from speaking about each other. However, he expressed his well wishes for her.
“It’s like I said before, right? It’s all a circle. This circle, it keeps turning, keeps coming back. Everything finds balance. Like the old saying, what goes around comes around. I believe in this,” said Honey.
