Honda puts money into SES Holdings Pte., Helm.ai

“If we look at Honda now, can we do everything by ourselves? Unfortunately, the answer is no. So I will be considering the possibilities of an alliance or alliances.”

The first of the new partners is SES Holdings Pte., a Boston-based battery research company. Honda said it will work with SES to develop lithium-metal batteries as part of a long-range battery strategy to find safe, durable, low-cost and high-capacity EV power packs.

“The battery is a crucial component of battery-electric vehicles,” Honda said in a statement about the deal, “and Honda, which is accelerating electrification of its products on a global basis, has been concurrently looking into several options for next-generation batteries.”
