The new owner of a 148-year-old house made an unsettling discovery while renovating the home she purchased.
Lindsay Grummett told of her work in a series of TikTok posts and noticed something startling which had not previously attracted her attention.
On the same level as a platform between stairs and the upstairs level with downstairs, she discovered a door seemingly without a function.
From what she could tell there was an upstairs bathroom on the other side, with no access to any other spaces in that area of the house.
She could not resist finding out what was behind the door after being too scared to investigate while her boyfriend was away on a work trip.

She opened the door, which did not have a handle, and revealed boards of timber and a set of stairs that had been blocked off.
On the other side of the door she described “some very retro stickers”
She told Yahoo News: “I have no idea what’s back there. Let me know if you think I should try to figure it out,” she told people on the social media platform.
More than seven million people have since viewed video which she called: “My house may or may not have a secret passage… and probably a few ghosts”.

In comments on the site, almost 13,000 people said they were interested and many begged her remove the boarding and find out where the stairs led to.
One person wrote: “I have no idea how someone sees this and just walks away like ‘oh I’ll deal with that secret room later’ “
Another comment said: “I mean you opened up the door already so if there are spirits, they’re out so go on girl. Check it out,”

In another video uploaded the next day, Ms Grummett said she would wait for her boyfriend to return home before she investigated further
She said: I’m going to be real with you, I’m a little baby and so is she [the dog], and all of you commenting about ghosts and spirits and all other kinds of weird s*** that might arise when I go into that space, I’m not willing to do it alone,”
Ms Grummett told her audience, who were concerned about ghosts or spirits, that she would investigate the space when her boyfriend is home and film another video.
She said: “I hope it’s a secret room or a pot of gold,”
