High-end gated communities of Bengaluru look like ghost towns | India News

BENGALURU: Most of the Epsilon estate’s famous residents in Bengaluru had to be rescued in boats after torrential rains on Sunday night left their multi-crore homes flooded, also cutting off water and power. Epsilon and the neighbouring gated communities looked like ghost towns on Tuesday, with star hotels in the vicinity seeing huge bookings.
While the rest of the citizenry affected by the collapse of the city’s infrastructure have been venting on social media, residents of Epsilon have maintained a stoic silence.
Just about one video of a flooded Epsilon has emerged so far.
As this cohort has the longest reach and the loudest voice, the city is hoping that they willhold the stakeholders to account for the disaster that has befallen them and ensure that all the noises being made by the administration about desilting the storm water drains, providing better connectivity between lakes to ensure that the water flow is contained, actually materialise.
A basic villa in Epsilon costs Rs 10 crore. Depending on the size of the plot, the price can easily head north of Rs 20-30 crore. An acre plot is apparently Rs 80 crore. When you have put down such huge amounts for your house, the last thing you expect is for it to be flooded and lose water and electricity.
