Heavy rainfall alert for these Karnataka districts in next 24 hours | Bengaluru

The heavy rain is likely to continue for the next 24 hours in many districts of Karnataka, announced the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin on Monday. The IMD has also issued thunderstorm warnings at a few isolated places in the southern state.

According to the Met department, heavy rain is likely to occur in Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Mysuru, and Shivamogga districts along with all districts in coastal Karnataka. Areas in north interior Karnataka and south interior Karnataka will see light to moderate rainfall in the upcoming 24 hours, said the IMD.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru has been witnessing constant downpours for the past three days. On Sunday, the city registered 41 mm of rain, according to the IMD’s mid-day bulletin. There was hardly any relief from the chilly weather with a slight increase in temperature from Friday as the minimum settled at 17.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Earlier on Friday, the city recorded the minimum temperature at 16.4 degree Celsius. Surprisingly, cold weather in Karnataka’s capital was observed as Cyclone Mandous crossed the coast at Tamil Nadu’s Mahabalipuram in the early hours of Saturday.

The Met department also noted that the Karnataka capital is likely to see moderate rain until Wednesday (December 14).
