Grandmother killed and eaten by seven metre snake in Indonesia

The rubber tapper named Jahrah went missing earlier this week after going into the jungle alone from her village in Sumatra.

Her family later found her sandals, a torch and a machete belonging to her.

As locals searched for her in subsequent days, they found a large snake with a distended stomach.

When they cut the snake open, they found the woman’s body inside.

Local news site TribunJambi said the python was about seven metres long.

While they usually eat pigs, deer, binturong and wild primates, there is a long documented history of the giant snakes eating humans.

They are found in nearly all south and southeast Asian countries, including India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines.
